Saturday, September 26, 2026 - The Niger State Police Command has arrested a security guard Godwin Dauda, for r@ping an 11-year-old girl to d3ath in Suleja.
The incident began on the 20th of September when a report
was made at A Division Suleja that 11-year-old Christabel Albert had gone
missing after leaving home the previous day to attend a relative’s birthday
ceremony.
Later that evening, a pastor of the Apostolic Church,
Suleja, reported the discovery of a body inside a well within the church
premises.
The Police, with assistance from local government welfare
officials, recovered the body and took it to General Hospital Suleja, where it
was later identified as that of the missing girl.
Police investigations led to suspicion of the 26-year-old
security guard attached to the church who had reportedly fled the premises.
He was subsequently arrested on the 23rd of September around
Kuje in the Federal Capital Territory, where he was said to have gone into
hiding.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who
confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, September 25, said the suspect
confessed during interrogation to luring the girl into his security room, where
he s3xually assaulted her, resulting in her d3ath.
“After
I lured her to my room and had sex with her, when I discovered she had d!ed, I
was scared, and, for people not to catch me, I dropped the corpse in the well
and ran away to Kuje area of the FCT, Abuja," the suspect said.
The Police
said the suspect further confessed to disposing of the body in the well in an
attempt to conceal the crime before fleeing the area.
“During
interrogation, he confessed that he lured the girl to his room and r@ped her to
d3ath,” the PPRO stated.
“In his
effort to conceal the crime, he dropped the corpse in the well and ran away.”
The Command says preliminary investigation is ongoing, while
the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department
in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
