Troops arrest 2 suspected terrorists’ collaborators in Ondo




Thursday, May 28, 2026 - Troops of 32 Brigade, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have arrested two suspected terrorists’ informants during an offensive operation in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Military sources said the operation was conducted at about 9:30 a.m. on May 25, 2026 in forested areas around Itagbolu, Iju, Igbogun Iju and Iju Alagbun communities.

The operation formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and enhance security within the area.

The sources disclosed that two suspected informants linked to terrorist activities were apprehended during the operation.

They added that the suspects had been handed over to the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, for further investigation and necessary action.

Similarly, troops of 242 Reconnaissance Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.

The suspect, identified as Alhaji Gambo, 33, was apprehended at about 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, during routine security checks at Charlie 4 entry point into Monguno town.

According to the sources, the suspect was intercepted while attempting to enter the town, following intelligence-driven surveillance operations in the area.

Items recovered from the suspect included two packs of brake shoes, two packs of clutch accessories, a Demba Rover, a wristwatch, a torchlight and personal clothing, among other items.

The suspect and recovered items are currently in the custody of Sector 3 Military Intelligence Battalion for further investigation and necessary action.

Security officials noted that preliminary interrogation is ongoing to determine possible links between the suspect and terrorist logistics or support networks operating within the region.

They added that the general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, while troops’ morale and operational efficiency remain satisfactory.
