Friday, May 29, 2026 - Spyro has continued to criticise
influential pastors and public figures over their silence on insecurity in
Nigeria, saying any pastor refusing to speak up at a time like this is “part of
the system”.
During an emotional IG Live, the singer said the worsening
insecurity has made Nigerians afraid to travel, questioning how people are
expected to move freely when fears of kidnappings now exist on major routes. He
also lamented the state of the country, saying disturbing videos of violence
and abducted children now haunt him to the point where he struggles to sleep.
Spyro referenced incidents involving kidnapped children and
victims of violent attacks, saying Nigerians are traumatised while many
influential church leaders remain silent. According to him, pastors are leaders
too and should not only preach but lend their voices in moments of national
crisis.
The singer said he regularly defends the church but believes
now is the time to tell hard truths, insisting that silence from influential
pastors and celebrities signals comfort and convenience while ordinary
Nigerians suffer
Spyro also argued that if prominent pastors had loved ones
affected by kidnappings, the church would likely mobilise quickly, questioning
why the same energy is not being used to speak for citizens currently living in
fear
