Thursday, May 21, 2026 - The Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi State has arrested a suspected foreign national and recovered 18 stolen rams valued at about N7m.
The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a
statement issued on Thursday.
According to him, the arrest followed an intelligence-led
operation by the Police Monitoring Team attached to the Area Command, Bauchi
Metropolis.
Habib said the operatives intercepted a white Hummer bus and
a Toyota Camry along Gubi Road in Bauchi on May 19.
The vehicles were found loaded with 18 rams allegedly stolen
from a location opposite A.A. Kunya Filling Station along Murtala Mohammed Way
in Bauchi.
The police spokesperson identified the suspect as Sayyadi
Abubakar, 58, from Tahoua Town in Maradi State, Niger Republic.
According to the statement, the suspect allegedly confessed
to conspiring with one Alaji Ibrahim and four other accomplices who are
currently at large.
“The group allegedly stole the rams from a location opposite
A.A. Kunya Filling Station along Murtala Mohammed Way, Bauchi.
“The syndicate is known to replace vehicle plate numbers
with those of any state they visit to facilitate their criminal activities,”
the statement added.
The command said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing
suspects, adding that the case would be charged to court after investigation.
