Thursday, May 28, 2026 - Operatives of the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have arrested 10 suspected criminals for various offences ranging from vandalism, theft, criminal conspiracy, trespass, and receiving stolen property.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s Public
Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, stated that the suspects were arrested
at different locations in the state.
According to the statement, the areas where the suspects
were arrested included Gwarmai, Ghari Local Government Area, Challawa
Industrial Area, Unguwar Rimi, and Waratallawa, all in Kumbotso Local
Government Area of the state.
“The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil
Defence Corps has successfully busted and arrested 10 suspected criminal gang
members alleged to have committed various criminal acts ranging from vandalism,
theft, criminal conspiracy, trespass, and receiving stolen property.
“The suspects were nabbed at different locations in the
state, including Gwarmai, Ghari Local Government Area, Challawa Industrial
Area, and Unguwar Rimi, as well as Waratallawa, all in Kumbotso Local
Government Area of Kano State,” the statement said.
It added that the suspects were paraded on Tuesday at the
command’s headquarters by the state commandant, Commandant Mohammed Hassan
Agalama IION.
According to the statement, the exhibits recovered from them
included 200 metres of aluminium conductor cables, handsets, copper wire, power
banks, and dangerous weapons — knives, cutlasses, swords, and scissors, among
others.
The statement added that the investigations had been
concluded and the suspects would soon be charged in court for prosecution.
The commandant reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to
safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as its zero
tolerance for all criminal acts, while urging the people of Kano to continue
supporting security agencies with information to tackle security challenges in
the state.
Earlier, the Kwara State Command of the NSCDC arrested three
men over alleged illegal mining and unlawful transportation of suspected solid
minerals in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The suspects, identified as Musa Abdullahi, 45; Aliyu
Ibrahim, 20; and Ishaq Ibrahim, 51, were reportedly apprehended during a
late-night intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Mines
and Steel Unit attached to the command’s Special Patrol Team.
