Woman kills 3-year-old daughter to marry new boyfriend who didn't want her child

Saturday, November 29, 2025 - Zimbabwean police have arrested 35-year-old Geviza Fadzai for allegedly stabbing her three-year-old daughter to death in Village 2, Fair Range, Mkwasine, on 25 November 2025.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the child was stabbed in the neck with a knife, and investigators believe the mother committed the horrific act because she wanted to marry a new boyfriend who refused to accept a woman with a child.

After the killing, police say Fadzai attempted to mislead the community by giving multiple false accounts of what happened. She reportedly told a neighbour that four unidentified attackers had assaulted the child. She later went to the village head and claimed her daughter had died from natural causes.

The truth began to surface during burial preparations when a deep cut was discovered on the girl’s neck. A concerned individual reported the matter to ZRP Mkwasine, triggering a full investigation. The victim’s body was taken to Chiredzi General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police later established what they described as the shocking motive:

the suspect “allegedly k!lled her daughter so that she could marry her new boyfriend, who was unwilling to marry her while she had a child.”

This devastating case mirrors another disturbing incident reported days earlier in Hobhouse, where 39-year-old Netsai Chikuni was arrested for allegedly stabbing her three-year-old son, Ngonidzashe Njerera, multiple times in the head and neck.

According to Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, witnesses heard Chikuni shouting at her son during the attack. One tenant reported hearing her say:“Idya chingwa ukuda kundiurayisa” (“Eat your bread, you want to k!ll me.”)

Police officers arriving at the scene found Ngonidzashe with multiple stab wounds, two blood-stained kitchen knives beside his body, and Chikuni lying next to him with self-inflicted cuts on her hands and legs.
