Friday, September 25, 2026 - Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tochi Okechukwu, has warned against early marriage, advising young women not to rush into settling down and having children too soon so they do not lose sight of their personal dreams and ambitions
Sharing his thoughts online, Tochi explained that he has
always opposed early marriage for women, stressing that young girls deserve
enough time to discover who they are and what they can achieve before taking on
family responsibilities.
He noted that when a young woman enters marriage too early,
her personal goals usually take a back seat.
He added that early marriage can shrink a woman's identity,
warning that someone who could have become a doctor, a successful
businesswoman, or a leader might end up being remembered only as her husband's
wife.
While acknowledging that marriage is a good thing, Tochi
emphasized that timing is key, encouraging young women to complete their
education, learn useful skills, and gain independence before getting married.
