Tuesday, June 2, 2026 - Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with local hunters, have arrested two suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that the suspects
were apprehended at about 9:05 a.m. on June 1, 2026 in Garkida following
credible intelligence.
The suspects were identified as Mallam Babangida Abubakar,
30, and Abdullahi Yusuf, 18.
Preliminary interrogation indicated that the suspects
allegedly confessed to involvement in several terrorist activities within the
North-East region.
Babangida Abubakar was said to have admitted participation
in the abduction of school children in Mussa and the attack on Leho Village in
Askira Local Government Area of Borno State.
Similarly, Abdullahi Yusuf reportedly confessed to taking
part in an attack on Tellabala Village in Gombi Local Government Area of
Adamawa State.
Security sources said the suspects are currently in custody
of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion for further investigation.
“The suspects were picked up following credible intelligence
and are assisting investigators with useful information,” the source said.
