Wednesday, June 3, 2026 -The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists and recovered firearms and ammunition during an operation in the Ajanmgbadi area of Ojo Local Government Area.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on June 2, 2026.
According to the statement, the suspects, identified as
Emmanuel Nwokolo, also known as Oblo, Ayola Israel, popularly called Essy
Pawpaw, Ebuka Nnamdi and Chinedu Okafor, were apprehended at a hotel in
Ajanmgbadi following intelligence received by the command.
Police said preliminary investigations linked the suspects
to alleged cult-related activities and other violent crimes within Ajanmgbadi
and neighbouring communities.
The command further stated that a video allegedly showing
the killing of unidentified persons was recovered from one of the suspects’
mobile phones during the investigation.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly admitted
being members of the Aiye Confraternity and were linked to a series of violent
incidents in the area.
“During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to
being members of the dreaded Aiye Confraternity and admitted to being
responsible for terrorising residents through a series of killings and other
violent crimes,” the statement said.
The police also disclosed that subsequent searches led to
the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver pistol and 13 live
cartridges.
“Further investigation and searches conducted by the
operatives led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver
pistol, and thirteen live cartridges believed to have been used in the
commission of their criminal activities,” the statement added.
The command said investigations were ongoing to determine
the full extent of the suspects’ alleged involvement in criminal activities and
to identify other members of the group.
Police added that the suspects would be charged to court
upon the conclusion of investigations.
