“No cake, no music, no cost” Nigerian pastor says after conducting wedding inside his office (VIDEO)

Friday, May 29, 2026 - A Nigerian pastor, Philip Olubakin, has shared a video from a simple wedding he conducted inside his office.

Olubakin, who shared the video in a Facebook post on Thursday, May 28, 2026, said the couple got married in the presence of family and close friends.

According to him, the ceremony was successfully held without the usual tradition, extravagant ceremony and massive budget.

The pastor, however, stressed that he wasn't trying to downplay the importance of big weddings.

He said the pressure to fund a ‘certain kind of wedding’ while navigating the challenges of waiting often leads to fornication.

He also stated that the church wasn't trying to hide any pregnancy, adding that the couple are just two young people who love each other.

“Another office wedding concluded this morning right in my office. Two young people who love each other getting married before family and close friends,” he wrote.

"No wedding dress. No bridal train. No groomsmen. No rehearsal entry dance. No eye glasses that have light. No smoke or fireworks except the one already in their hearts burning for each other. No lights. No cake. No music. No cost.

"And no they are not pregnant and we are trying to hide it. The only thing we insist on is that consent of the parents be already sought and all traditional obligations be met no matter how small it is.

"Am I saying all of these are bad? Obviously not. But the reason you have kept pushing your wedding forward is because you want to have a certain kind of wedding you have pictured in your head and you both are working and saving hard to get the money while you use that opportunity to be fornicating for the time being giving the devil an inroad into a home you haven’t even built yet.

“Why not do the right thing? Build your home on a right foundation. Things don’t have to be very difficult.
