Thursday, May 21, 2026 - Police in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana, have thwarted an attempt by a woman to smuggle suspected illegal drugs hidden in food items into cell for a detainee.
According to police report, officers of the Asahiman police
station discovered four tablets of suspected narcotic substances, identified as
“Timaking” or “Red”, concealed in a pie brought to the station by 21-year-old
Anita Amoah for her boyfriend, Richard Acquah, who was in custody.
Investigations revealed that Acquah had contacted Miss
Amoah, his girlfriend, from inside the cells using a smuggled phone,
instructing her to hide the drugs in the pie and deliver it with yoghurt to the
station.
Both suspects have admitted to the crime, with Acquah
claiming the drugs were for personal use.
Miss Amoah has been arraigned and remanded into police
custody, with her next court appearance set for Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Police are continuing investigations, led by District Crime
