Sunday, May 31, 2026 -Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested a 21-year-old herder in connection with the alleged assault of a farmer in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state in Plateau.
The suspect, identified as Abdulmutala Yunusa, was handed
over to troops at Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41, Gashish, at about 1:30 p.m. on May
29, 2026.
The arrest followed an ongoing manhunt launched by troops
after a farmer, identified as Isah Ahmad, was reportedly assaulted at Hai Kurra

The suspect’s father, who had earlier been arrested in
connection with the incident, was subsequently released following the surrender
of the main suspect.
The suspect was brought to the troops by the Fulani leader
of the community.
The suspect is currently in custody for further
investigation and necessary action.
Security agencies said efforts were ongoing to sustain peace
and prevent further tensions in the area.
