Tuesday, April 28, 2026 - US First Lady Melania Trump has called on ABC to dismiss late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, accusing him of making “hateful and violent” remarks during a recent comedy segment.
In a strongly worded statement released on Monday, the First
Lady criticised Kimmel’s monologue, saying it went beyond humour and
contributed to political division in the United States. She described his
comments as “corrosive” and argued that such content should not be broadcast
into American homes.
The criticism follows a segment aired last week in which
Kimmel mocked the Trumps during a parody tied to the White House
Correspondents’ Dinner. His jokes included remarks about Melania Trump’s
marriage and personal life, which have since drawn backlash from her office.
Melania Trump also accused ABC of protecting the comedian,
claiming the network continues to shield him from consequences. She urged the
broadcaster to take action, stating that “enough is enough” and calling for
accountability
The comedian delivered a monologue Thursday on his show
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in which he joked that the first lady looked like she had
a “glow like an expectant widow.” The skit aired just two days before a shooter
stormed Saturday’s WHCD dinner where President Donald Trump, the first lady,
Vice President JD Vance and other top administration officials were in attendance and
evacuated.
Neither Jimmy Kimmel nor ABC has publicly responded to the First Lady’s
comments at the time of reporting.
