ADC crisis: Oyo chapter holds parallel state congresses




Monday, April 13, 2026 - Leaders and chieftains of Oyo State chapter of African Democratic Congress (ADC) have held parallel state congresses ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The two congresses were held at two separate locations within Ibadan metropolis.

The first congress was held at the party’s office around Oke Itunu area of Ibadan, while the second congress was held at an event centre along the old Ife Road in Ibadan, on Saturday.

The congress which was held at the party’s office produced the incumbent Chairman, Mr Yinka Olona as Chairman, Alhaji Tiamiyu Abidikugu as Deputy State Chairman, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo as State Publicity Secretary and Alhaja Fatimoh Salawu as State Women leader.

Others are: Barr. Dauda Jinadu as State Legal Adviser, Hon. James Obasa as State Financial Secretary, Chief Ayobami Ojedokun as State Organizing Secretary, Niyi Lekan Ogunbowale as Youth Leader, Hon. Kazeem Abidemi Alarape as State Treasurer and Dr. Oke Adebowale as Coordinator on Elections matter/ INEC Liaison.

However, the congress, which was held at the event centre produced Hon. Jimoh Adelowo as Chairman, Remi Abidogun, Deputy Chairman, Fatai Adelakun as Oyo South senatorial district chairman, Simeon Adegboye as Oyo Central senatorial chairman, Alhaji Ajibade Khalid as Oyo North Senatorial chairman, and Daud Temitope as Youth Leader.

The Olona-led executive is claiming that they will not allow anyone to hijack the party from them.

The party also conducted parallel congresses at both the wards and local government levels in the state.
