Security officers rescue abducted teenager in Benue




Saturday, December 6, 2025 -A 14-year-old boy, who was abducted along the Oweto–Otukpo route in Agatu Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue Statee, was rescued by operatives of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards during a routine patrol on Friday.

The rescue happened around 7:45 p.m. when the patrol team stopped a vehicle that appeared suspicious.

Upon noticing the security personnel, the kidnappers abandoned the boy at Egla in Agatu LGA and fled into the dark.

The victim, identified as Daniel, son of Michael and Rebecca, was taken to the Civil Protection Guards’ office in Obagaji, where he received medical attention. Authorities later confirmed that he was stable.

During questioning the next morning, Daniel said he is 14 years old, attends Contract Secondary School in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, and is in JSS 2.

He lives at Mararaba Sharp Corner in Nasarawa State and is of Idoma origin. He also explained that he does not know his parents’ phone numbers.

Daniel has been handed over to the Nigerian Police in Obagaji for further investigation and efforts to trace his family.

Officials are urging residents in both Benue and Nasarawa States to circulate the information widely to help locate his parents or guardians promptly.
