Troops arrest suspected terrorists’ logistics supplier in Borno

Saturday, November 29, 2025 - Security operatives under the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected logistics supplier for terrorists along with 21 accomplices in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The suspects were intercepted while transporting a large consignment of smoked fish believed to be tied to insurgents financing.

The arrests took place around 3:30pm on Wednesday at Checkpoint 2 in Mafa, where troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion, operating under the 24 Task Force Brigade, halted two Isuzu trucks loaded with 59 cartons and 28 sacks of smoked fish.

The main suspect, 40-year-old Ibrahim Bukar, was taken into custody alongside the others.

According to a counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama, preliminary questioning indicated that the fish was handed to them in Laje village by members of the terrorist group.

Bukar was said to have admitted supplying various items to the group in the past, while hybrid forces at the scene reportedly identified him as a former supplier during their time in the forest.

All suspects and the seized items are now in custody as investigations continue.

The incident has once again raised questions about how terrorist groups secure funding
