Monday, November 17, 2025 - A 27-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been taken into custody by New Orleans police after allegedly stabbing his father to death and injuring his two sisters during a domestic incident on Pebble Street.
According to Punch, family members told local outlet WWL
Louisiana that the deceased, Samuel Eweni, was a computer sciences professor at
Southern University at New Orleans. They also confirmed that the two injured
victims were his daughters.
Relatives described the attack as sudden, noting that the
suspect had a history of mental illness but had never been violent.
According to WWL, one of the sisters has been discharged
from the hospital, while the other is still admitted but expected to recover.
The New Orleans Police Department confirmed that Eweni was
found in Jefferson Parish and is currently in law enforcement custody while
undergoing medical evaluation.
Police said the incident occurred around 9:59pm on November
11, 2025. Officers arrived at the home to find an unresponsive male with fatal
stab wounds and two other adult victims with injuries.
Detectives have identified Eweni as the suspect and obtained
an arrest warrant for one count of second-degree murder and two counts of
attempted second-degree murder.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the
official cause of death after an autopsy and notification of next of kin.
