Thursday, November 20, 2025 - A Kano State Magistrates’ Court has ordered the arrest of Talban Warawa, Abubakar Idris, the village head of Warawa Local Government Area (LGA), over allegations of sexual assault of his housemaid, which is said to have resulted in her pregnancy.
According to the prosecution, the traditional leader had
previously been granted bail by the court.
However, despite six consecutive court sittings, he failed
to appear before the court to answer the charges filed against him.
The defence counsel, Barrister Hassan Danjuma Balarabe,
appealed to the court to grant them an additional date, assuring that the
accused would be presented at the next sitting.
After careful consideration, the presiding Magistrate, Hafsa
Yahaya, expressed dissatisfaction with the accused’s repeated absence and
subsequently directed the Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest and
produce him before the court.
The matter has been adjourned to December 3 for continuation
of hearing.
