Tuesday, October 14, 2025 - The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, on Tuesday, blasted President Bola Tinubu for his recent actions of pardoning some criminals with bad records.
Some of those he pardoned had been sentenced to death, life
sentences for crimes relating to drug trafficking, murder, human trafficking,
to mention but a few.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin,
Primate Ayodele described the action as wasting the efforts of the NDLEA and
security operatives who arrested and convicted the criminals.
He stated that the criminals will continue to cause issues
in the country and add to the troubles of security operatives despite the
current situation of insecurity in the country.
Primate Ayodele said: “Why must he pardon criminals, cocaine
pushers? It’s just like wasting the efforts of these security operatives to
arrest these criminals. These criminals will continue to cause issues in
society; you can’t separate them from crime.”
He said since it was easy for the president to pardon the
criminals, it’s unfair to allow Nnamdi Kanu to still be behind bars without
sentencing for several years.
Ayodele explained that since convicted and imprisoned
criminals can be easily pardoned, Nnamdi Kanu’s case, which has not gotten to
the sentencing stage, should be easy to pardon.
“Now, since he released these people, why then is Nnamdi
Kanu in detention for several years? If these people can be pardoned despite
some of their crimes, Nnamdi Kanu should be pardoned too.
“Release Nnamdi Kanu as you have pardoned other people that
have even been sentenced to death and life imprisonment. It’s absolutely wrong
and will affect your government.”
Furthermore, Primate Ayodele urged Tinubu to do away with
bad advisers because they will ruin his chances.
“Tinubu should do away with bad advisers, both on the
economy and security. They are disappointing and don’t mean well for him. He
needs to be very proactive,” he added.
