Benue man stabs his cousin to death during an argument

Friday, July 25, 2025 - A 25-year-old man, Abdulraman Rabiu, has allegedly stabbed his cousin, Adamu Abubakar, to death during a fight in the North Bank area of Makurdi, Benue State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at Lafia Garage.

A police source said: “It was reported that the suspect stabbed his 35-year-old cousin, Adamu Abubakar, during a physical altercation between them.”

The source added that, after the incident, an angry mob attacked the suspect and beat him severely before he was rescued and taken to Divine Love Hospital, Low Level, Makurdi, for medical attention.

“Both the suspect and the victim were taken to the same hospital, where Adamu was confirmed dead while receiving treatment,” the report stated.

The police said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for further investigation.
