Thursday, June 26, 2025 - Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh, has urged striker Victor Osimhen to make a move to the English Premier League this summer if he wants to maintain his global relevance and career momentum.
Speaking during an interview on Lagos Talks 91.3FM, Oliseh
emphasised that while Osimhen is a valuable asset to Nigerian football, there
are still areas he must improve to reach the top tier of global football.
“I think he (Osimhen) is a huge asset to
Nigerian football,” Oliseh said. “But like every top asset, we all have our
shortcomings. We have to be able to find solutions and work around them.”
Oliseh noted that Osimhen’s long-standing links to top
Premier League sides like Arsenal and Chelsea reflect his growing reputation,
but stressed that playing in the Premier League would offer the striker the
platform to compete at the highest level consistently.
“This is a player that, if he wants
to continue to be in the limelight, he has to go to the Premier League.
Nigerians want to see him there,” Oliseh added. “But for him to play that
way—for him to become that big—there are many things he has to change.”
