Thursday, March 6, 2025 - The Nigerian Police Force has arrested three suspects for allegedly attacking police officers with machetes and other dangerous weapons in the Byazhin area of Kubwa, Abuja.
Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama revealed the development on
his X handle, stating that the incident occurred when officers responded to a
distress call from a trader whose wares had been vandalized by hoodlums.
According to intelligence sources cited by Makama, a police patrol team
was deployed to the scene, but upon arrival, they were ambushed by the
miscreants. The attackers, armed with machetes and other weapons, inflicted
serious injuries on two officers.
Inspector Wabi Elisha sustained a deep machete cut to his head, while
Inspector Sunday Ujah suffered injuries to his face and shoulder. Both officers
were rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where Ujah was treated and discharged,
while Elisha was referred to the National Hospital for further medical care.
Reinforcement teams later apprehended three suspects: Daniel Effiong
Thompson, 23; Jude Danlami Jacob Yohana; and Gabriel Ezekiel, son of the Sarkin
Byazhin, who is alleged to have masterminded the attack.
Security operatives are currently making efforts to track down other
fleeing suspects, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has
taken over the case for further investigation.
