Thursday, March 6, 2025 - A 28-year-old suspected armed robber in the Sagamu area of Ogun State, named Wasiu Aliu, has been apprehended by men of the Ogun State Police Command.
Aliu was apprehended at about 1:05 pm on Tuesday while trying to flee
from Sagamu to Ikorodu on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.
The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, reported on Thursday that he
was intercepted near the Lafarge Cement Factory in Sagamu, along the Ikorodu
Expressway.
Odutola stated that upon searching the suspect’s bag, a locally made
pistol and two cartridges were found.
She said, “On March 4, 2025, at approximately 1:05 pm, personnel from
the Police Mobile Force attached to the Armoured Personnel Carrier on Sagamu
bank patrol duties, acted on credible intelligence and apprehended a robbery
suspect.
“The suspect, Wasiu Aliu, a 28-year-old male resident of Ikorodu, Lagos,
was intercepted and apprehended near the Lafarge Cement Factory in Sagamu,
along the Ikorodu Expressway.
“At the time of arrest, he was fleeing Sagamu towards Ikorodu on an
unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. A subsequent search of the suspect yielded a
locally made pistol and two expended cartridges.”
She added that investigation was ongoing and the suspect, the recovered
firearm and motorcycle, have been handed over to the Assistant Commissioner of
Police in Sagamu for further investigation.
