Friday, July 5, 2024 - Two people have been confirmed dead in the two-storey building collapse that occurred at the Ekeoyibo market, Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday, July 4.
Though still under construction, the
two-storey building had shops already occupied by some traders.
It collapsed at about noon on
Thursday, trapping some traders and buyers.
The Spokesman for the Anambra Police
Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the death of the two victims on Friday,
July 5.
Ikenga said some victims have been
rescued from the rubbles are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in
Amawbia.
