Thursday, September 17, 2026 - Troops have rescued a two-year-old boy abducted alongside his mother by suspected kidnappers at Ungwan Nungu Village in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The rescue operation was conducted at about 1600 hours on
Septembee 16, 2026, following intelligence on the movement of the kidnappers
and their victims.
According to security sources, troops conducted a search
operation at Tayu High Grounds in Tayu Village and adjoining areas of Sanga LGA
in an effort to locate the abducted mother and child.
During the advance, the troops made contact with the
suspected kidnappers, leading to an exchange of fire.
The kidnappers subsequently abandoned one of the victims,
identified as Jafaru Baba, two years old, and fled into the surrounding bush.
The rescued child was recovered by the troops and later
handed over to his father.
Security sources said troops expended 17 rounds of 7.62mm
ammunition during the encounter.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the
boy’s mother and apprehend the suspected kidnappers responsible for the
abduction.
Security forces have also intensified search operations
across the surrounding terrain to deny the fleeing criminals freedom of
movement.
