Tuesday, June 7, 2026 - The Lagos State Police Command on Monday, July 6, arraigned popular TikTok creator Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, and his associate, Bello Oladipo, before a Lagos Magistrate Court.
The duo faces a three-count charge including resisting
arrest, obstructing police officers from performing their lawful duties, and
threatening as well as filming officers during an operation.
The arraignment stems from a July 2 incident along the
Coastal Road in Lagos. Police officers intercepted Peller for allegedly driving
a vehicle without registration number plates.
While the content creator claimed the vehicle was a recent
purchase, the officers rejected the explanation and insisted on escorting him
to the police station.
The encounter escalated when Peller began filming the
interaction on his mobile phone. Peller later alleged that the officers turned
hostile during the recording. He claimed that an officer dragged his shirt and
pointed a firearm at him.
The police department countered those claims, leading to the
formal charges filed against Hamzat and Oladipo during their court appearance
on Monday morning.
