Wednesday, June 10, 2026 -Troops of Sector 3 of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have arrested a suspected kidnappers’ informant in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect, identified as
Yohanna Teri, also known as John Mai-Shayi, 40, was apprehended on June 9, 2026
at Kangang community following intelligence-led operations by security
personnel.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspect is
believed to have provided information and support to a kidnapping network
operating within the area.
Sources revealed that investigations linked him to the
abduction of Mr Maxwell Anakwe, who was later rescued by troops during a
security operation in the community on June 3.
The arrest is considered a significant breakthrough in
ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in kidnapping and
related offences across Plateau State.
Security officials noted that the operation underscores the
importance of intelligence gathering in identifying individuals who provide
logistical support and information to criminal groups.
The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further
interrogation as investigators seek to uncover additional members of the
network and establish the full extent of his involvement in the kidnapping
incident.
Military authorities reiterated their commitment to
sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting criminal
activities and improving security within Plateau State and its environs.
They also urged residents to continue supporting security
agencies with credible information capable of leading to the arrest of criminal
elements.
