Tuesday, June 9, 2026 - Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the school principal abducted alongside 45 students in Oyo State on May 15, has debunked widespread reports claiming their captors are demanding a N1 billion ransom, firearms, and the nationwide implementation of Sharia law.
Over the weekend, online platforms were flooded with reports
alleging that the kidnappers had forwarded these sweeping demands to the Oyo
State Government.
However, in a newly released video, Mrs. Alamu dismissed
those claims, clarifying that the abductors have made only one specific demand:
the release of their detained members. She further pleaded with authorities to
prioritize their safety, urging the government to stop playing politics with
their lives.
She said;
‘’Please I
have come to make some clarifications, Today makes it the 24th day that we have
been in this place and it seems that some people are making problems to be
complicated already. We were shown some print media where it was stated that
these people that abducted us requested for the release of some people, a
billion Naira, sharia to be entrenched in the country..These are not true. They
are just trying to create problems for us.
We have been
here since and we have not been forced to worship in the Islamic way. We have
been left alone. They have not troubled us concerning that. They are not asking
for Sharia law or money. The single thing they are asking for is the release of
some of their people. I don't know why they are peddling this rumor to make it
complicated for us.
Please we
are begging you, don't play politics with our lives. Nigerians, please help us
to circulate this! They are not asking for Sharia law. It is not true. They are
not asking for weapons or money. All they want is the release of some people ad
the government will negotiate with them and know the ones that they will
release to them. I don;t know why they are playing politics with our lives. Our
lives are in your hands. Help us make this go viral. Don't let the government
deceive the whole world. ‘’
