Tuesday, June 23, 2026 - The Ogun State Police Command has recovered the missing vehicle belonging to the former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, who was found dead alongside her security guard at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Ogun State.
The command disclosed this in a statement on Monday by its
spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, noting that the vehicle, a Lexus RX300, was
recovered by police operatives during a night operation as investigations into
the deaths intensified.
Babaseyi stated that the Commissioner of Police, Bode
Ojajuni, visited the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot assessment and to
evaluate the progress made in the ongoing investigation.
According to him, Ojajuni inspected the premises and
received briefings from detectives handling the case.
The statement read in part, “Further to the ongoing
investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of retired
broadcaster Ms Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, the Commissioner of
Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, today visited the scene of the
incident for an on-the-spot assessment and to evaluate the progress of ongoing
investigative efforts personally.
“It is worthy of note that the vehicle earlier reported
missing from the residence, a Lexus RX300, has been recovered by police
operatives during the night hours.
“The vehicle has since been secured as part of the ongoing
investigation.”
He noted that the police boss in the state commiserated with
the family of the deceased and assured residents that all available resources
were being deployed to apprehend those behind the incident.
“The Command further assures the public that significant
progress is being made and that further developments will be communicated as
investigations unfold,” the statement added.
The command said it commenced an investigation into the
deaths of Oyesiku and her security guard after a resident raised an alarm over
suspicious activities at the broadcaster’s residence.
Babasey had stated that detectives from the Owode Egba
Division who visited the scene discovered signs of forced entry and disturbance
within the premises.
He had stated that the body of the security guard was
reportedly found inside the security post, while Oyesiku’s corpse was later
discovered in her apartment.
The PPRO had also revealed that the victim’s vehicle was
missing from the premises at the time of the discovery, prompting suspicion
that the assailants fled with it after the attack.
Following the incident, Ojajuni ordered a comprehensive
investigation, directing detectives to deploy intelligence and surveillance
assets to track down those responsible.
The late Oyesiku was a respected broadcaster and a former
staff member of the state-owned television.
Her death has sparked grief among members of the media
community and residents of the state, who called for a thorough investigation
into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
