Wednesday, June 3, 2026 -The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said its personnel have arrested a suspected fraudster involved in the fake conversion of money to the tune of N12.5 million.
In a statement by SC Daniel Aidamenbor, Public Relations
Officer of the Ondo State NSCDC Command, the case was reported at
the command headquarters by Mrs Linda John, proprietor of Remmy Guest
House, Alagbaka, Akure, who alleged that one Akinsanmi Olawale, a 32-year-old
male employee of the establishment, had engaged in fraudulent activities.
Following the complaint, the suspect was arrested on
May 18, 2026, and an investigation revealed that he, who served as
the manager of the guest house, could not account for proceeds generated from
the business over a two-year period spanning 2024 to 2026.
It was further discovered that the suspect had allegedly
manipulated and falsified the financial records of the guest house by
presenting inaccurate accounts aimed at concealing the misappropriation of
funds.
According to the statement, the suspect confessed to
committing the crime, adding that he would be charged in court upon the
conclusion of investigations in line with the corps’ zero-tolerance policy
towards crime and criminality.
