Thursday, June 11, 2026 - Troops of Sector 7 of Operation ENDURING (OPEP) have arrested three suspects following a clash between farmers and herders in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Security sources disclosed that the troops responded to a
distress report at about 12:20 a.m. on June 10, 2026 concerning a violent
confrontation at Atuku Kasa Village.
According to the sources, troops arrived at the scene and
found two farmers identified as Nicolas Augustine and Dogara Yakubu with
machete injuries allegedly sustained during the clash.
The injured victims were immediately evacuated to the
Anglican Hospital for medical treatment and are currently receiving care.
During the intervention, security personnel arrested three
suspects identified as Muhammadu Adamu, Shehu Husaini and Anas in connection
with the incident.
The suspects are currently in custody pending the conclusion
of investigations.
Security authorities said preliminary inquiries have
commenced to determine the immediate and remote causes of the clash, as well as
establish the roles played by the arrested persons.
The troops also took measures to prevent further escalation
of tensions and restore calm in the affected community.
Incidents involving disputes between farmers and herders
have remained a recurring security challenge in parts of Kaduna State, often
arising from disagreements over grazing routes, farmland encroachment and
access to natural resources.
Authorities have assured residents that anyone found
culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
