Sunday, May 17, 2026 - A Nigerian man, Paul Kavwam, has rescued a baby boy found abandoned in a bush off a hiking trail in Plateau State.
Kavwam, who disclosed this in a Facebook post said he and
his group were returning from a hike on Saturday, May 16, 2026 when they heard
cries and found the baby wrapped in a towel.
After confirming that the child didn't belong to any of the
local women fetching firewood in the bush, they took him to Angwa Rukuba police
station in Jos North.
They were later taken to another police station where we
handed the baby over to the DPO for onward transfer to the appropriate
authority.
"Today we were out on a hike, on our way back, we heard
the cry of a baby wrapped and kept in the bush,” he wrote.
"We had to call some women who were looking for
firewood in the bush and they said it's not their baby.
"I then took the baby and we took him to Angwa rukuba
police station and we were later transferred to the Nasarawa Police station
where we handed the baby to the DPO of the station for onward transfer to the
department where this child will be taken care of.
“It's really sad that people can still do this in this
generation where many are looking for the fruit of the womb. May God have mercy
on us all.”
