Friday, May 1, 2026 - In a written message delivered on Thursday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei declared that the United States has suffered a "disgraceful defeat" in its recent military campaign against Iran.
The message, which was broadcast on state television, marks
a defiant stance as the region enters what Khamenei described as a "new
chapter" for the Persian Gulf and the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Khamenei’s assessment comes exactly two months after the
initiation of what he termed the "largest military deployment and
aggression by the world’s bullies in the region." He asserted that
Washington’s strategic objectives have failed, despite the intense naval and
aerial operations conducted over the past several weeks.
The Supreme Leader's remarks follow a series of high-stakes
developments in the ongoing conflict, including the U.S.-led naval blockade and
the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces.
While U.S. President Donald Trump has recently claimed that
80% of Iran’s missile-making capabilities have been neutralized, the message
from Tehran signals a commitment to continued resistance and a rejection of
American diplomatic and military pressure.
This declaration of victory from the Supreme Leader
coincides with warnings from other senior Iranian officials, including
President Masoud Pezeshkian and military adviser Mohsen Rezaei, who have both
described the U.S. maritime strategy as doomed and warned of a severe response
should the naval blockade persist.
