Wednesday, April 15, 2026 - Suspected herders have k!lled a 47-year-old community chief in Asa village in Okelade area, in Ido Local Government Area.
The victim, who was identified as Chief Mutairu Oladosu,
Otun Balogun Oluode Okelade, was m4rdered while working on his tomatoes farm.
The herders, according to an eyewitness, invaded the farm in
large numbers to launch an unprovoked attack on the victim.
Oladosu, who was with one of his daughters, was overpowered
by the fully armed attackers.
Confirming the incident, the Okelade Okin of Okelade, Oba
Wahab Olabamiji, said the attack was carried out by three herders.
Oba Olabamiji said one of the suspects had been arrested and
handed over to the police for further investigation.
“We are here at the palace of the Olubadan to inform Oba
Rashidi Ladoja about what is going on in our various communities in Ido Local
Government Area,” he said.
"The herders are not only grazing on our farms, but
they have also become a source of threat to dwellers.
The people in the area can no longer sleep with their two
eyes closed again because of the fear of the herders."
"Last Friday, Oladosu was hacked to d3ath by the
herders while working in his tomatoes farm.
*I prevailed on my people not to allow the incident to
snowball into a major crisis, hence the visit to the Olubadan.
“We are happy with the timely intervention of Oba Ladoja.”
Speaking, Oba Ladoja said he got wind of the attacks
through the leadership of the community.
“I was informed that one Mutairu Oladosu was murdered by
suspected herders in Asa village in Ido Local Government Area. I invited the
commissioner of police in the state to the palace over the incident, and he
said one of the suspects had been arrested, while others are being trailed,”
the monarch said.
"The CP gave assurance that the matter would be duly
investigated, while justice will be served on whoever is found guilty of the
k!lling,”
