Wednesday, April 22, 2026 -Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has criticised what he described as the misuse of legal processes in handling the case involving former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on his
official page.
According to him, concerns were raised over what he termed
‘lawfare’ being deployed against El-Rufai, stressing that legal procedures
should not be used as a tool for intimidation.
Sowore called on the courts to uphold the rule of law by
granting bail where necessary and ensuring fair trials for all individuals.
“Bail is a constitutional right, not a tool for punishment
or intimidation,” he said.
He further argued that using bail conditions to restrict
individuals unjustly undermines the justice system.
Sowore added that such practices should be rejected,
regardless of who is involved, emphasizing the need for fairness in the
application of the law.
