Saturday, April 4, 2026 - The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued an abducted 3-day-old baby boy and arrested two female suspects in connection with the crime in Karu Local Government Area.
Unknown persons snatched the baby from his teenage mother,
Aisha Bada, on March 28 in Mararaba.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Ramhan Nansel,
confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday morning, April 3, 2026.
According to the PPRO, detectives of Mararaba 'A' Division,
acting on credible intelligence, arrested the suspects, Furera Abdulrahman, and
Sadiya Abdullahi and rescued the baby on April 3.
They confessed to the crime during interrogation and named
an accomplice who is currently at large.
"The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully
rescued a three-day-old abducted baby and arrested two suspects in connection
with the crime,” the statement read.
"On 29th March 2026, at about 0545 hours, one Aisha
Bada, a 19-year-old resident of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market, Mararaba in Karu
Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, reported at the police station that
unknown persons had abducted her newborn baby boy.
"She stated that her husband, Abubakar Isah, a
commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) rider, had travelled to Lagos for business
about five months earlier.
"According to her, on 28th March 2026 at about 1150
hours, while she was asleep with her three-day-old baby in her uncompleted
building located at the outskirts of Unguwan Bawa, Orange Market, two
unidentified men broke into the house, threatened her with violence, and
abducted the baby to an unknown destination.
"Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of
Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed directed detectives of Mararaba 'A' Division
to immediately visit the scene, and ordered a full-scale investigation into the
incident.
"Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives on
3rd April 2026 at about 0400 hours arrested two suspects: Furera Abdulrahman,
35 years, of Rugan Juli, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39 years, of Unguwan Bako,
Orange Market.
"The abducted baby boy was found in their possession
and successfully rescued.
"During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the
crime and implicated an accomplice who is currently at large, to carry out the
abduction.
"Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
"The rescued baby was immediately taken to the Medical
Centre, Mararaba, where he was examined by a medical doctor, certified to be in
good health, and subsequently discharged.
"The child has since been reunited with his parents.
"The case is currently under investigation and will be
transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for
further discreet investigation upon completion of preliminary inquiries.
“The Nasarawa State Police Command reassures members of the
public of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and urges
citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the
nearest police station.”
