Nigerian woman arrested in Ghana for operating a brothel




Wednesday, April 22, 2026 -The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 28-year-old Nigerian woman, Esther Egbuhama, for allegedly operating a brothel in the Ashanti Region.

According to reports by GhanaWeb, the suspect was apprehended on Sunday, April 19, 2026, during a raid by officers of the Manso Nkwanta Police Command.

The operation targeted a premises identified as Mama Nice Lodge, located at Manso Watreso, following intelligence reports on alleged illicit activities at the facility.

In a statement issued on Monday, April 20, 2026, police said the raid was part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on suspected criminal operations within the area.

Egbuhama was arrested at the scene and taken to the Manso Nkwanta Police Station, where she is currently assisting with investigations.

However, several other individuals believed to be connected to the operation reportedly fled before the arrival of security operatives.

“The police picked up intelligence on the activities going on at the place and mounted the operation to stop the crime being perpetrated there and arrest the culprit for the necessary action,” the statement read.

“Unfortunately, all her accomplices and other suspects managed to escape.”

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command also reminded the public that operating a brothel is a criminal offence under Section 277 of the Criminal Offences Act, as amended by N.L.C.D 398, Paragraph 16.

Investigations are ongoing to track down other suspects linked to the alleged operation.
