JADA SMITH calls out husband WILL's friend over weight gain court claims

Friday, April 10, 2026 - Actress Jada Pinkett Smith has responded to claims made by Bilaal Salaam, dismissing his allegations of emotional distress as unsubstantiated.

According to court documents, Pinkett Smith challenged Salaam’s claims that he suffered severe emotional distress linked to his fallout with her family. Salaam had alleged that the situation caused weight gain, the loss of a romantic relationship, and forced him to temporarily leave the country.

In her filing, Pinkett Smith argued that Salaam failed to provide credible evidence to support his claims, noting that assertions alone are insufficient in legal proceedings. She said proper proof, such as medical records or third-party verification, would be required to establish severe emotional distress.

Salaam is seeking $3 million in damages, claiming that Pinkett Smith publicly disparaged him after he declined to assist Will Smith during the fallout from his Oscars controversy. He also alleged that individuals within the Smiths’ circle made threats against him after learning about a memoir he was writing.

However, Pinkett Smith described the allegations as “false” and “uncorroborated,” accusing Salaam of attempting to generate attention through what she characterised as a campaign of harassment against her family.

She further stated that she never mentioned Salaam by name in any public comments and has asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit in its entirety.
