Thursday, March, 5 2026 - Fourteen residents of Dinawa village in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State were abducted by bandits, but only four have regained their freedom despite the payment of ransom.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Wednesday by
security analyst Bakatsine.
“Residents of Dinawa village in Wurno LGA of Sokoto State
report that bandits abducted 14 indigenes of the village and held them captive
for six weeks, demanding ransom of 10 million and two motorcycles. Despite
payments made, only four people were released. A young boy was killed, while
others remain in captivity.
“Families in the village are grieving and pleading for
justice and improved security since Monday. If ransom was paid, why are
hostages still being held and how are bandits continuing to operate with such
impunity,” Bakatsine wrote.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the
development.
