Thursday, March, 19 2026 - In its continuous effort to enforce road discipline and ensure safety on major highways, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, has convicted 17 drivers for various traffic-related infractions in the Ogere area of the state.
The offenders were convicted on Wednesday during a mobile
court session presided over by Magistrate O.S. Fadahunsi.
Recall that last week Thursday, 20 motorists were arraigned
and subsequently convicted for various violations, including overloading,
excessive speeding, among other traffic-related offences, during the Phase II
sitting of the mobile court held at the Itori unit command and presided over by
Chief Magistrate O.T. Odunsaya.
The Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, speaking during the
court session, urged motorists to adopt safe driving habits and ensure proper
vehicle documentation to prevent avoidable road crashes, injuries and
fatalities.
However, the command’s spokesperson, Odunsi Afolabi, on
Wednesday disclosed that a total of 17 offenders were arraigned for various
traffic-related infractions and on presentation of evidence and admissions of
guilt, the court convicted all with no discharges recorded for the day.
“The analysis of the session’s legal actions is as follows:
Total Number of Offences, 30, Total Convictions: 17, Total Offences Fined: 28,
Number Discharged: NIL” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Corps Commander Fasakin, emphasized that the
stringent enforcement of traffic laws is essential to reducing road accidents
and ensuring the free flow of traffic along the busy Ogere axis.
He urged drivers to remain law-abiding,stressing that the
mobile court will continue its operations to penalize reckless driving and
statutory violations.
