Friday, March, 13 2026 - A man was arrested in Houston, United States for allegedly locking his disabled wife in a bedroom in their million-dollar home for five years, giving her little more than "1 egg" to eat per day.
According to court records obtained by Law&Crime,
46-year-old James Earl Johnson was arrested on March 6, 2026 after his
46-year-old wife called 911 and claimed that he had kept her locked in a
bedroom with no phone access for five years.
The victim reportedly called the police when Johnson left a
phone on the nightstand on March 6.
The victim told authorities that she had little to no contact
with the outside world during her captivity before she made the call to 911,
court documents said.
During the call, Johnson allegedly slapped his wife and
brought her back to bed before hanging up with 911.
Authorities specified the victim was disabled, but did not
elaborate on her disability.
Johnson allegedly starved his wife, giving her "1 egg" and "some dinner" per day. Despite her disability, he reportedly failed to provide basic and consistent medical care for the five year period.
The victim's son told KTRK that his mother was still in the
hospital days after she was rescued by authorities, and he declined to
elaborate on the extent of her injuries or the nature of her disability.
Law&Crime reported that the home the victim lived in
with Johnson and their children was appraised at over $1 million.
Authorities were previously called to the home in November
2025, but the victim told responding officers that she and her children were
told to not speak with the police, KTRK reported.
Johnson was arrested and charged with injury to a disabled
individual and abandoning or endangering a disabled individual.
