Wednesday, March, 18 2026 - The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 59-year-old blind man, Julius Nyikwa, who is being accused allegedly r@ping his 10-year-old niece in the Keteren-Gwari area of Minna.
It was alleged that the suspect lured the victim into his
room on February 16, 2026 and r@ped her.
According to Punch, the suspect’s wife is the victim’s
aunt, and they live in the same compound along with her parents.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who
confirmed the incident in a statement to the publication assured the public
that the suspect will face justice.
The PPRO further disclosed that it was not the first time
the suspect r@ped the minor.
“On 16th February, 2026 at about 2pm, a case of r@pe was
received at ‘B’ Div Minna, which also indicated that a 59yr old suspected blind
man, Julius Nyikwa of Keteren-Gwari Minna, r@ped a 10-year-old girl of the same
compound into his room,” the statement read.
"Investigations revealed that the suspect’s wife is a
sister of the victim’s mother, and they all incidentally live in the same
compound as a big family.“
"It was further revealed that the suspect repeatedly
lured the victim into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.
“During the last encounter, the victim was seen entering the
suspect’s room, and the grandmother raised an alarm, which attracted neighbours
following which the suspect was arrested.
"The case has been transfered to the SCID for further
investigations, and the suspect will soon be charged to court."
