Wednesday, March, 11 2026 -The Federal Road Safety Corps has secured the conviction of 20 traffic offenders during a mobile court sitting held at its Ogun State Sector Command in Abeokuta.
This was disclosed in a statement made available to PUNCH
Online on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Odunsi
Afolabi.
According to the statement, the mobile court session was
presided over by Chief Magistrate O.T. Odubanjo and involved cases of offenders
apprehended during special enforcement operations carried out by FRSC personnel
across the command’s operational corridors.
“At the end of the proceedings, 21 offenders were arraigned
before the court, of which 20 were convicted while one was discharged,” the
statement read.
It added that a total of 65 traffic offences were recorded
against the offenders, although none of them was sentenced to imprisonment.
“The offences prosecuted included Seatbelt Violation, Speed
Limit Device Violation, Driver’s Licence Violation, Overloading, Tyre
Violation, Vehicle Licence Violation, Number Plate Violation and other related
traffic offences,” the statement said.
The Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, said the exercise
was aimed at ensuring motorists comply with traffic regulations in order to
reduce road crashes and fatalities in the state.
“The exercise is aimed at ensuring motorists comply with
traffic regulations in a bid to reduce traffic fatalities to the barest minimum
through enforcement in the state,” Fasakin was quoted as saying.
The statement added that the mobile court session was
conducted peacefully with armed personnel present to ensure the smooth conduct
of the exercise
