Monday, March, 2 2026 - Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen DAF truck cabin in Mararaba area of Karu Local Government Area, following a targeted intelligence-led operation.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Ramhan Nansel, on behalf of the
Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out in
line with directives by the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed,
aimed at strengthening community-based policing and intensifying efforts
against criminal activities across the state.
Nansel stated that Police operatives attached to Mararaba
‘A’ Division acted on credible intelligence and, at about 10:30 a.m. on
February 28, 2026, arrested two suspects identified as Abdulrahaman Danjuma,
31, a resident of Mararaba, and Saadu Umar, 34, of Zone Four, Abuja, at Tudun
Wada area of Mararaba.
During the operation, officers recovered an unregistered
white DAF truck cabin suspected to have been stolen.
He added that a search conducted on the vehicle also led to
the recovery of two number plates bearing registration numbers DGA 118 XA and
USS 168 XA.
The police said the suspects confessed during interrogation
that the trailer was stolen from Kogi State and driven to Mararaba.
They further disclosed that the trailer body had already
been sold for ₦4 million to an unidentified buyer through a proxy who is
currently at large.
“The suspects admitted to stealing the trailer from Kogi
State and transporting it to Mararaba, where the trailer body was sold through
an intermediary,” the statement said.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism, CP
Shetima Jauro Mohammed directed that efforts be intensified to arrest other
individuals connected to the crime.
He also ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects and
the recovered exhibit to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in
Lafia for further investigation.
The police assured residents of the Command’s continued
commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property
across Nasarawa State.
