Thursday, February 5, 2026 - A 39-year-old woman was arrested for attempted m8rder after allegedly st@bbing 40-year-old pregnant colleague multiple times at a retail store in the Namakgale, Phalaborwa, South Africa.
Limpopo provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 said
the victim, whose identity is being withheld, was on her way to work when she
received a call from a colleague informing her that a woman was looking for her
at the store.
On arrival, the victim went to the storeroom to retrieve
stock and began packing shelves when the suspect (pictured) approached her,
exchanged greetings and then allegedly attacked her with a knife, st@bbing her
repeatedly.
Store security personnel intervened, overpowered the suspect
and rescued the victim, who sustained several st@b wounds.
Police and emergency medical services were summoned to the
scene, and the injured woman was transported to a local hospital for medical
treatment. Her current condition and that of her unborn child are unknown.
The assailant was arrested at the store, and a sharp object
believed to have been used in the attack was seized.
Ledwaba said preliminary investigations revealed that the
39-year-old woman allegedly went to the store with the intention to harm the
victim, pretending to shop for groceries while carrying a set of knives in her
trolley.
While the official motive remains under investigation,
sources close to the matter allege the violent confrontation stems from both
women being romantically involved with the same man.
The suspect made her first court appearance at the Namakgale
Magistrate's Court on Monday where she was formally charged with attempted
m8rder.
