Friday, February 6, 2026 - The Gombe State Police Command has arrested one Bello Abubakar for k!lling his 38-year-old landlady, Maryam Hassan
The incident occurred in Kundulun Quarters of Gombe
metropolis in the early hours of Tuesday, February 2, 2026.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Buhari Abdullahi, who
disclosed this in a statement in Wednesday, February 4, said the officers moved
to the scene after a Good Samaritan reported to the police that the victim was
found lying motionless outside her residence with a severe head injury.
Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the suspect
who later confessed to the crime.
According to the PPRO, a pestle and mobile phone belonging
to the deceased was recovered from the suspect.
“The Gombe State Police Command wishes to inform the general
public that on 03/02/2026 at about 0600hrs, a report was received from a Good
Samaritan that a woman identified as Maryam Hassan “F” 38years of Kundulun
Quarters, was found lying motionless in a pool of blood with a severe head
injury in front of her residence” the statement read.
"Upon receiving the report, detectives from Gombe
Division promptly visited the scene. The victim was immediately evacuated to
Hospital, where she was sadly certified dead.
"Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the above-mentioned
suspect for questioning.
"However, preliminary investigations led to the
recovery of the following exhibits: one (1) pestle, one (1) stool, one (1)
bucket, one (1) shirt suspected to be stained with blood and one (1) mobile
phone (Redmi 15C) belongs to the deceased was found in his possession.
"The suspect later confessed to the crime. The case is
under discreet investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department
(SCID) and further developments will be communicated in due course.
"The Command assures the public that justice will be
pursued diligently.
“The commissioner of Police Gombe State Command CP Umar
Ahmed Chuso mnips, fwc, mspsp, psc(+) urged the residents to continue to
support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information.”
