Thursday, February 5, 2026 - Atletico Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo has expressed his excitement following the signing of Nigeria international Ademola Lookman.
Lookman completed a permanent move to the LaLiga club from
Atalanta on Monday, ending a successful spell with the Italian side.
During his three-and-a-half-year stay at Atalanta, the
28-year-old winger scored 55 goals and provided 27 assists in 137 appearances
across all competitions. He was also instrumental in the club’s 2024 Europa
League triumph, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
Atletico Madrid secured Lookman’s signature ahead of Turkish
Super Lig giants Fenerbahce. Cerezo noted that joining Atletico had been a
long-held ambition for the winger.
“He is a player desired by top clubs, and thanks to the
difference in financial terms, he has been able to join us. This has been his
dream for many years,” Cerezo told eldesmarque.com.
Lookman now looks set to make an immediate impact at the
Metropolitano Stadium as he begins a new chapter in LaLiga.
