Former 'American Idol' CALEB FLYNN charged with killing his wife inside their Ohio home while kids slept nearby

Sunday, February 22 2026 -A former American Idol contestant has been accused of fatally shooting his wife inside their Ohio home while their two young daughters slept nearby, according to newly filed court documents.

Caleb Flynn, who auditioned during Season 12 of American Idol, was arrested  on Thursday, February 19, and charged with murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn

Police say the shooting occurred inside the couple’s Tipp City home, just north of Dayton. An affidavit cited by local media states that the couple’s two daughters were inside the residence at the time but remained asleep in their bedroom throughout the incident. Officers reportedly found them still in bed when they arrived.

Investigators allege Flynn shot his wife in the head with a handgun and then attempted to stage the scene to resemble a home invasion. Authorities say Ashley was discovered in bed with at least one gunshot wound, while two spent shell casings were found nearby.

Audio from a 911 call obtained by media outlets captured Flynn telling dispatchers that an intruder had broken into the house and shot his wife. During the call, he described her as “white as a ghost.”

Police have not disclosed a possible motive. Flynn entered a not guilty plea during his initial court appearance on Friday and is being held on $2 million bail. The case remains under investigation.
