Tuesday, January 20, 2026 - Suspected herdsmen have k!lled a Christian missionary, Rev. Bulus Madaki, his daughter, son-in-law and injured his 3-month-old infant grandchild in an attack on commuters in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred at about 10 p.m. on Friday, January 16,
2026 at a bridge linking the Gassa and Nding communities in Fan District.
According to family members, Rev. Madaki, a missionary
serving with the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Zagun DCC, was
transferred to Gwol DCC, all in Plateau State.
The family were approaching their new station when they were
ambushed by the gunmen.
The National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth
Moulders-Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, who confirmed the incident said the
"victims were were ambushed by armed men suspected to be terrorists
operating from the Jong area of Ropp District, believed to be their
hideout."
The assailants reportedly shot the victims at close range.
The baby survived the attack but sustained injuries. She is currently receiving
medical treatment at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
Condemning the attacks, the association described them as
part of a troubling and coordinated pattern of violence across Plateau State,
warning that the incidents were not isolated.
