Tuesday, January 20, 2026 - A 300-level student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), in Niger State has d!ed in what authorities suspect to be a case of su!cide linked to a house rent dispute.
According to local sources, the student, a native of Suleja,
was residing in an off-campus lodge where he also served as a caretaker.
He was reportedly responsible for collecting rent from other
occupants of the building.
Trouble allegedly arose when the lodge owner requested
the rent and the student was unable to provide the money.
The situation is said to have caused significant
distress, leading to the tragic outcome.
Some sources claimed the student lost the money to
betting.
A handwritten note was reportedly discovered at the
scene.
Security agencies have since been notified and are expected
to carry out a full investigation to determine the exact circumstances
surrounding the incident.
